OCFA gives you access to exhibition opportunities across three distinct gallery locations — each one with its own audience, its own standards, and its own career value.
Showcase Gallery near South Coast Plaza is your entry point. Accessible, active, and community-oriented — it’s where OCFA artists build their exhibition history, test new work with real audiences, and become part of the showing community.
Marriott Hotel Gallery in Costa Mesa is invitation-only. The gallery director curates directly from work shown at Showcase — selecting pieces for an international audience of sophisticated travelers in a four-star resort setting. You can’t apply for it. You earn it.
Artist Eye Gallery in Laguna Beach is a full commercial gallery with high curatorial standards in one of California’s most celebrated art destinations. Admission requires passing a separate, highly competitive jury beyond general OCFA membership. If you earn a spot, you can put on your bio: “I show at a gallery in Laguna Beach.” That sentence opens doors.

How joining works
Four easy steps.
1. Fill out the membership form below.
It takes less than 2 minutes. Tell us a little about yourself and pick your membership level.
2. Pay your dues
Secure online payment. Starting at $50 for the year.
3. Complete your jury review
To show and sell your work in OCFA galleries, you’ll go through a simple jury process. It’s not about being “good enough” — it’s about making sure your work is ready for a gallery setting. Most artists are approved on their first try.
4. Start showing your work
Once juried, you can enter exhibitions, come to member events, use studio space, and be part of the OCFA community right away.
What OCFA is really about
We’re run by artists, for artists.
OCFA is a member co-op. That means the people who run it are the same people who show in it. When you join, you’re not just a customer — you’re part of how it works. Members help hang shows, staff opening nights, and keep the galleries running. If you want to be involved, there’s always something to do. If you just want to show your work and go, that’s okay too.
We’ve been doing this since 1964. A lot has changed. The community hasn’t.
Questions people ask before joining

Do I have to be a professional artist to join?
No. OCFA welcomes artists at every stage — beginners, hobbyists, and full-time professionals. If you make art and want to grow, you belong here.
What is the jury process? Is it scary?
The jury is a simple review of your work by OCFA members. It’s not a test. It’s a way to make sure your work is ready to hang in a gallery. Most artists pass on their first try. If you need guidance, we help you get there.
Do I have to volunteer?
If you exhibit your work in a show, we ask you to help with one 5-hour gallery shift during that show. Can’t make it? You can pay a small sitting fee instead. Outside of shows, volunteering is welcome but never required.
I’m not a painter. Do you accept other media?
Yes. OCFA members work in oil, acrylic, watercolor, ceramics, sculpture, photography, jewelry, glass, fiber, digital art, and more. If you make it, we have a place for it.
Can I join if I’m not an artist?
Yes. Art lovers, collectors, and people who just want to support local art are welcome as supporting members. Come for the community. Stay for the art.
